Practicing Your Message
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:16-17)
On Communication — The Edge of Great Teams:
Lessons From Our Monthly Discussions on Leadership
Every day, your messaging matters. How much time are you spending preparing and practicing your message?
The best-performing teams are always the best-communicating teams.
Stories demonstrate what you and your organization value, and when different voices communicate the same message, it reinforces it for the team.
For your message to be heard, you must first build a genuine connection with each of your players.

On Thursday, Pastor Eric asked us what were characteristics of great teams. Someone sitting near me said, "Communication." This came out today as I was sifting through morning emails.
Note the first one speaks to "messaging" as the number one hallmark. In some cases, we hear the word "branding" being used today. Our messaging teaches and tells others exactly who we are.
The use of stories is a great method of how we teach our team and those around us about the team. All of this must be genuine (authentic) and must be from the culture we are creating. It must be who we really are. We don't make up stories that are not in the context of who we are.
Christ used parables to teach, a common practice in his day. His stories resonated and taught at the same time. Today, we use these stories in the context of faith and life. What stories can you use in your own life? In the life of your family? Your church?
Pray that the stories we use build up the body and speak as to who we genuinely are. We pray that all we do in word and deed build you up, O Christ. Amen.
