The Mind of Christ
And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. 14The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16“For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:13-16)
There are a lot of people these days that make claims that sound like they know God well. They speak for him and to us and make many claims. This isn't new. Mark Twain has commentary in his book "Huck Finn" of Huck and Jim running into a couple hucksters who hid along the river banks and came out making claims of being nobility, ministers, and whatever else might help them survive in life. Christ confronted people claiming to know God, as does Paul.
Paul is clearly asking important questions in this entire chapter. Who can know the mind of God? Who, but God, can speak on his behalf? To that end, our faith teaches two realms of God: revealed and hidden. God reveals himself to us through his Word, spoken and recorded in scripture. The hidden God is one we do not know, because who can know the mind of God?
The Spirit helps us learn who God is by revealing truths to the believer through his Word.
Pray for discernment in this age to distinguish the truth when hearing someone speak on behalf of God. Learn God's Word to know the revealed nature of God. Pray that God's Spirit penetrate the heart of person who doesn't know him to reveal the truths of God and bring him or her to faith. Amen
