Easter Celebration

Apr 5, 2026    Eric Hiner

This powerful Easter message challenges us to examine what truly motivates our lives. Drawing from the dramatic transformation of the disciples before and after the resurrection, we're confronted with a profound question: Are we living from a place of fear and inadequacy, constantly trying to prove ourselves worthy, or from a place of confidence in who Christ has made us to be? The sermon uses the memorable illustration of two architects, Sven and Ole, to show how different motivations lead to vastly different experiences of life. Sven works from fear and doubt, exhausting himself trying to prove his worth, while Ole works from confidence in his gifts, finding joy and fulfillment in the process. The central message is clear: the resurrection changes everything. We are people for whom Christ came, died, and rose again. Our lives are hidden in Christ, as Paul declares, and this truth should fundamentally shift how we approach each day. Instead of waking up wondering if we're good enough for God, we can stand firm in the knowledge that Christ has already claimed us. The resurrection isn't just a historical event we celebrate once a year; it's the foundation of a completely transformed way of living, motivated not by fear of falling short, but by the confidence of being fully loved and redeemed.
