Choices Matter

This powerful message invites us into a season of reflection on how our choices shape our spiritual journey. Drawing from the story of Adam and Eve in Genesis, we are reminded that even in paradise, with everything provided, humanity was drawn to the one thing forbidden. This ancient pattern continues in our lives today - we find ourselves inexplicably attracted to what we know we should avoid. The sermon brilliantly connects this timeless struggle to Christ's temptation in the wilderness, showing us the stark contrast between our failures and His victory. Where Adam and Eve fell in abundance, Jesus stood firm in deprivation. Where we stumble daily, Christ remained faithful. The beautiful truth emerges that our baptism connects us to Christ's triumph rather than Adam's defeat. Every time we wash our hands or face, we can remember that God is doing something profound in the smallest moments - forgiving us, renewing us, making us new. This Lenten journey reminds us that while our choices do matter, they don't define us. What defines us is God's choice to send His Son, to forgive our sins, and to claim us as His own through the waters of baptism.
