Seeing People
This powerful reflection on John 3:16 invites us to see beyond the familiar words we have memorized and discover the profound truth about how God's love moves through our daily lives. While we often think of this verse as a promise about eternal life after death, it reveals something equally transformative about our present existence. The conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus introduces us to the mysterious work of the Holy Spirit, described as wind that blows where it wishes. We cannot see the wind itself, only its effects, and the same is true of God's Spirit working in and through us. This teaching challenges us to recognize that we are not meant to simply rest under the gospel like a weighted blanket, comforting but static. Instead, we are called to be part of a dynamic ripple effect that began with Christ and continues to spread outward through ordinary people like us. When we trace our faith backward, we realize that countless unknown believers carried the message from generation to generation until it reached us. Now we carry that same transformative message forward, often without realizing the eternal impact of our witness. The Spirit leads us to unexpected places and uses our simple acts of faithfulness in ways we may never fully comprehend this side of heaven
