1 Peter Week 4

This powerful message challenges us to reconsider how we measure success in our spiritual lives. Rather than counting our victories and achievements, what if the true measure of our faith is found in how we handle adversity? Drawing from 1 Peter's letter to persecuted churches in Asia Minor, we're reminded that suffering is inevitable in this broken world, but our response to it reveals the depth of our faith. The sermon weaves together powerful imagery from the Old Testament, calling us a chosen race, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation built on the cornerstone that builders rejected: Jesus Christ himself. The most profound truth presented is that every suffering we endure, Christ has already experienced on the cross. He bore not just physical pain, but the weight of all brokenness, all sin, all suffering. This means we never suffer alone. When we face hardship with grace, forgiveness, and steadfast faith like Stephen did as he was stoned, we trace the pattern Christ laid out for us. We're called not to avoid suffering, but to suffer well, to suffer with Christ, and in doing so, become living testimonies that point others toward the true God who endures all things with us.
