Grace First: A Biblical Vision for Generous Giving

What if the way we handle money revealed something far deeper about our spiritual lives than we ever realized? That is exactly the territory this message takes us into, drawing from 2 Corinthians 8 and 9, where Paul paints a striking portrait of the Macedonian church -- a community facing extreme poverty and real affliction -- yet overflowing with generosity and joy. The central lesson is disarming in its simplicity: genuine giving does not begin with our bank accounts. It begins with a recognition of God's grace. Before Paul says a single word about dollars or pledges or budgets, he tells the Corinthian church that what he most wants them to know about Macedonia is the grace of God alive among those people. That reordering of priorities challenges us to ask whether our own relationship with money starts in the right place. When grace is the foundation, generosity becomes a natural and even joyful response rather than a reluctant obligation. This message invites us to examine not just what we give, but the spiritual posture from which we give it.
