Psalm 32

6 Therefore let everyone who is godly

  offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;

surely in the rush of great waters,

  they shall not reach him.

7 You are a hiding place for me;

  you preserve me from trouble;

  you surround me with shouts of deliverance.

God forgives our sin and delivers us from our sin.

Got a text from my son this morning at 4 am, that I missed. Cindy and I were up early and went to get gas for our $1 off at United before the lines got to the pumps today so we could use the full 25 gallons with the discount. It filled up both cars, thank you very much.

When we got home, I decided to pull up the cell phone and check and see what I missed last night after we went to bed. That's when I saw the text from Philip, our son, telling us the baby (Daisy Mae) developed jaundice and was back in the hospital.

"Not to worry," I replied, "Fairly common. We will say a quick prayer and put it in God's hands." We did just that. Then I said to myself, "Oh yeah, the devotion...."

The text was fitting that was up for today since we always start with the Psalm. The last two verses of the full reading (Psalm 32:1 - 7) were especially fitting for today at this point, but the reading in general is great as well.

God is our refuge from all sorts of storms. Today's is a baby (our first grandbaby) going to the hospital to be treated for jaundice. God, please take care of baby Daisy Mae and heal her from this.

Tomorrow's may be something I did that got me in a fix, or a health issue, or something outside of my control that is having an impact on me (like $1 off a gallon of gas and my charge to my card was still $65). God is there for us to help us weather the storms, real or imagined, simple to complex.

Pray with me: Gracious God, be with us as new parents and grandparents, for the storms our children bring us, and be with us as a bunch of guys in various ages, from young to old men like myself, who get ourselves in fine fixes from time to time. Deliver me from this storm I find myself in and guide me to see another day following you. In Christ's name, Amen
