The Christian Mind: Thinking on What Is True, Honorable, and Pure

Oct 11, 2026  •  Eric Hiner

What we think about shapes who we are. That is the powerful and sobering truth at the heart of this message drawn from Philippians 4. Paul's words are not a passive suggestion but an active call to discipline our minds toward what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. We live in a world that constantly competes for our attention, feeding our minds with anxiety, self-doubt, and distraction. But what if we intentionally redirected that mental energy toward the things of God? This message challenges us to examine what we are feeding our minds from the moment we wake up to the moment we fall asleep. The promise attached to this kind of thinking is remarkable: a peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. That is not a peace the world can manufacture. It is a peace that comes when we anchor our thinking in something far greater than our circumstances.
