Daily Prayers
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Gracious and Merciful God, we give thanks for the love You have for us, for Your Son, and ask that You hear our prayers.
Healing
My neighbor is a man named Jack. He has a son-in-law who is the lead pastor at Redeemer Church (the non-denominational church, not Redeemer Lutheran). Dusty Thompson is a good friend to several at our church, and his is a church we are going to interview as part of our Discipleship Team's work at Hope. I have family that attends the church and several good friends as well. I spend that time to establish the relationship between our members and his church because Dusty is in need of prayer. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma and is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy.
Another person on our prayer list is a woman named Mo (short for Maureen) who had breast cancer in remission only to return in other forms throughout her body. One of our elders, Leland Brockman, brought her to our attention last week. She's young and has a child.
While visiting with a member of our church yesterday, she told me of a friend who is also fighting terminal illness. We also have members at Hope who are dealing with illness and injury in many shapes, forms, and diagnoses.
We want God's healing hand for Dusty and Mo and others in our midst, members of our church or part of Christ's body in other churches. Pray for strength and comfort for all who are fighting illness, terminal or chronic. Pray God's will be done and for strength for the care-givers, the doctors and nurses and others who will treat those who are ill, as well as family and friends who help in recovery and rest.

Discipleship Prayers
Our children will soon be going to camp and/or the National Youth Gathering. Prayers that they are taught and led to be servants of Christ next week (July 6 - 11) at camp and that their leaders and counselors are able to reach them through activities, studies, music and conversations based on God's Word.
Prayers for our servants at Hope as they lead, preach, administer sacraments and seek activities that share God's Word effectively. Pray for God's Spirit to provide strength, skills, wisdom, and knowledge to serve and to lead our congregation.
Prayers for Peace
The world has several regions at war. Pray for God's wisdom and peace to find its way into the hearts of men who lead. Pray that pride be lowered and that they bend their knees and lower their heads in service to God, and that the Spirit open their hearts and minds to hear His Word speak to them.
Prayers for the two firefighters gunned down doing what they were called to do, fight fire, search and rescue. Prayers for the loved ones they leave behind. Prayers for guidance and answers in our communities to seek God's will in order to curb violence.
Prayers for Forgiveness
For our sin and for those who we sin against or sin against us. Help us to see our sin and to ask God to forgive us for what we know and for those sins we do not know. Help us to heal and to seek healing spiritually.
Prayers of Thanksgiving
For all the good God has done for us and for all the abundance He surrounds us with in terms of love and forgiveness, grace and mercy. For His answers to our prayers and for those requests He's not answered, we thank Him for hearing our prayers and thank Him for the thought He gives our requests.
