Holy Trinity Sunday

This powerful message centers on the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:16-20, but presents it in a transformative way that lifts the burden many of us feel about evangelism. Rather than viewing this as a heavy commandment we must somehow accomplish in our own strength, we're invited to see it as the creative Word of the resurrected Christ speaking reality into existence. Just as God spoke light into being in Genesis, the same Word made flesh now speaks through us to create new life. The sermon beautifully connects the incarnate Word of John 1 with the creative power of Genesis, showing us that when we baptize, when we share the gospel, when we speak forgiveness, it's not our words doing the work but Christ's creative authority. We're reminded that the early disciples themselves were doubters and imperfect people, yet Jesus still commissioned them. Our doubts and failures don't disqualify us because this mission depends not on our perfection but on His power. The Trinity is woven throughout, from creation to the Great Commission, assuring us that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are actively working through the church. Most encouraging is the promise that closes the commission: Jesus is with us to the very end of the age, meaning the church will never die because it's founded on His living Word, not human effort.
