Pentecost
This powerful Pentecost message takes us beyond the familiar flames and tongues of Acts 2 into the wilderness with Moses, where we discover a profound truth about burnout, calling, and the Holy Spirit's empowering presence. Through Numbers 11, we encounter Moses at his breaking point, crying out to God in exhaustion and defeat, saying he would rather die than continue bearing the burden alone. How many of us have felt this way? The beauty unfolds as God responds not with judgment, but with provision, spreading the Spirit among seventy elders and demonstrating that ministry was never meant to be carried alone. What's remarkable is that two men, Eldad and Medad, who weren't even in the official gathering, began prophesying anyway. When Joshua objected, Moses responded with stunning generosity: if only everyone would do this! Here's the revolutionary insight: through our baptism, we all have received the Holy Spirit fully and completely. We are all equipped, called, and ordained to be ministers of the gospel. We don't need special credentials or advanced degrees. We simply need to point people to God's Word and let the Spirit do the work. This transforms how we view our daily interactions with family, friends, and community. We've probably been prophesying more than we realize every time we've shared God's truth with someone.
